Major Pharmaceutical Company
RTP, NC
Design / Construction Partnership
MY has had a long-standing design and construction partnership with a
major pharmaceutical company since 1990. Over
the past 12 years, MY has completed more than 1000 individual
building projects with a total value in excess of $84 million for this company.
MY was the major pharmaceutical company's Contractor of choice for their design-build
partner to provide all design and construction services at the
R&D Campus in RTP beginning in 1995, and continues today
under a multi-year long term contract.
High-Tech Laboratories
MY meets the challenge of managing the design and construction
of 70-100 jobs each year while setting safety achievements,
realizing considerable cost-savings, and developing and maintaining
‘fast track’ schedules. Major laboratory types on
campus include analytical chemistry, wet chemistry, organic
and inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, Instrumentation/analytical
labs, computer labs, biochemistry, radioactive research and
biohazard facilities, clean room facilities, NMR, x-ray crystallography,
electron microscopy, mass spectrometer, and animal holding.
Recombinant DNA, bioengineering, sequencing and related lab
facilities and support have been constructed as well.
Superior Safety Program
MY implemented a superior safety program that recorded 1.0
million consecutive man-hours without one lost-time injury.
This extraordinary record resulted in substantial cost savings
and a number of industry awards for both the major pharmaceutical company and MY.
Complex Planning
The massive scope and complexity of the multi-projects required
intensive team cooperation and detailed planning. MY fostered
a totally integrated, cooperative, team relationship with the
major pharmaceutical company, the design-team and the trade contractors. MY’s
scheduling expertise, which provided daily computerized construction
information on cost, materials, productivity and manpower,
kept all team members informed.
